Intemigra. Cross-Border Projects. Foreign Immigration in the Adriatic Regions. Summary of the Project. Volume 1

The community project Intemigra is part of the Interreg II C operational program which provides for interventions in the geographical border area between the Europe of the 15 and the other Eastern European countries, called “Cadses space” (Central Adriatic-Danube Europe and south-east). It was a question of creating a cooperation network for the management of socio-economic and structural changes deriving from migratory processes and settlements of populations of foreign origin. The main objective of the project was to study and address the impact that migratory flows – and the related settlements – determine on the urban-territorial structure of the partner regions. Partners of the project were the Italian regions bordering the Adriatic Sea (Puglia, Molise, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia), together with Greece, Albania and Germany, Abruzzo is the leading region, national and transnational coordinator. The research methodology adopted was that of action research. On the one hand, a fact-finding survey was carried out on the situation of immigrants in the project partner regions; on the other – on the basis of the knowledge that has been progressively acquired – that of the development of guidelines capable of facilitating the planning of active social policies by the local authorities affected by the foreign presence. The research methodology adopted was that of action research. On the one hand, a fact-finding survey was carried out on the situation of immigrants in the project partner regions; on the other – on the basis of the knowledge that has been progressively acquired – that of the development of guidelines capable of facilitating the planning of active social policies by the local authorities affected by the foreign presence
